hello christopher!

meet christopher, just six days old!

before our session i had no history with christopher's parents, just a string of emails from his mom while we waited for him to arrive.  we talked about the kind of newborn photos she was hoping for - soft, natural photos of the new family around their home.  it sounded like a perfect fit for me and when i finally got to ring their doorbell, i was sure of it.

on the day of our session little christopher was so new, he had spent most of his time being cuddled and happily sleeping in someone's arms.  the lucky boy had his mom, dad and two grandmothers oohing and aaahhing over him.  (he also has a dog, but the dog wasn't as enthusiastic about christopher's arrival).  christopher gave a little protest about being laid down for photos on his own.  but it all worked out wonderfully and the photos of his mommy settling him, talking to him, and touching his forehead have become my favorites.

emily and chris, thank you for inviting me to photograph your brand new family!  i look forward to watching christopher grow :)

adorable adell

here's a quick glimpse at adell's adorable 9 month mini session.  i'm so happy to get to photograph her!  as with many of my clients,  my relationship with adell's family began years ago when i photographed her mom and dad's wedding.  jennifer and john are never short on smiles - something that is easy to love about them.  i am grateful to know them and tickled pink to photograph their family as it grows.

for this little session i chose the location, mommy chose the dress, adell brought all the smiles   :)

WILLIAM . six months old

i am so pleased that i get the chance to photograph William.  he has been a total joy - both at his newborn session and his 6 month session - and i cannot get enough of him!  (his mom and dad are lovely too!)
enjoy the photos :)

baby collins

the photo above is one of my favorite images i've made in a long time.  collins was a perfectly perfect little sleepy head :)

bourbonais family

i met this great family when their oldest daughter was a goalie on my husband's soccer team.  you may remember brooke from her striking senior portraits.  it's a year later.  brooke is playing soccer at a college she loves.  and her younger sister, kali, is playing goalie for andy's team!

i was very happy to get the chance to do a fast, fun mini session of the whole family while brooke was home from school.

hudson

i have a soft spot for little shirtless boys in blue jeans.  that photo above?  just too much cute.

hudson is a new friend and a joy to photograph.  he smiled and giggled through (almost) the whole session.  my favorite images are the color shots below of his mom holding him up for a kiss -- she's stunning, the light was perfect -- and the much too cute shirtless photos.  enjoy :)

Annie + Tyler

i still can't believe Tyler is married - i've known him since he was just a goof of a little boy in soccer cleats!

our moms met when i was a baby and became fast friends.  incredibly, they have stayed the best of friends for more than thirty years, despite job transfers that caused them to never again live in the same city.

Tyler grew up with his family in ohio.  i followed the love of my life to a state i'd never been in and found myself in college, also in ohio.  i spent holidays at Tyler's house eating home-cooked food, playing (and arguing over) board games, and gratefully soaking up time with a family while i was so far from my own.

when Tyler asked me to photograph his wedding, i was thrilled.  i hadn't met Annie, but i was pretty sure i would like her when Tyler wrote in a note to me "I can't wait for you to meet my Annie."  don't you love that?

olivia + stella + mom + dad

a short session with these sweet sisters.  i loved everything about it.

i love it when older siblings force hugs and kisses on less willing little ones!

Naomi

i met lauren and ben a few years ago when i photographed their wedding day.  they had perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony.  lauren was stunning. she just beamed all day long, the picture of happiness.

if possible, lauren's smile was even bigger a few weeks ago when she met me at her front door holding her new baby daughter.

ellery, price + street

it happens that i caught up with these three for a short little session in their yard.  we had no agenda, just hoped to grab a few shots of each of them...being them.

it was great fun.  and it turned out that a 20 minute session is about all Street is interested in, anyway.

i love this family.  thank you kristen and nathan for letting me come play!

- on another note - i've been thinking for a while about adding "short sessions" to my portrait options.  what do you think?
